Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Fighters Table

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a exciting storyline including angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in strength within the city.

Note: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure are included.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

The latest chapter finished on a dramatic pause and introduced the premier party of heroes who will branch out from the central cast to begin their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.

This warrior group features Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Dividing the Cast

Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

This explains, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.

Characteristics of the Warrior Group

Per the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are rare.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are ideally matched for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

To begin with, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the narrative’s action—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.

Casimir then cleared his debts and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, above the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and closest confidant, wants retribution.
  • The adventurer knows the northern area and cautions that it is a dangerous environment.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
  • However, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the team access locations they usually can’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character swore a life debt to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are hunted by the rulers that rule Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally dangerous:

  • The agile adventurer and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and The healer defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the family.

This results in them no alternative but to journey toward Timmony in search of the traitor.

What’s Next?

Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the combat party will be absent the following episode, leaving the remaining eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Strategists parties.

Fans can anticipate finding out which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
